Thankful for the Lord’s Presence

Suk May Yei / Pastor of Prayer and Care

“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means “God with us.”) Matthew 1:23

Recently I had the chance to have a ride from urban to suburb and back! It was a pretty short ride, just about two hours round trip, but the Lord lovingly revealed and reminded me of a lot!

The journey started by passing a big Catholic high school at the school closing time … walking out from school were large number of students of Indian/Muslim heritage. The Lord’s Great Commission came right to mind: “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” Matthew 28:18-20

Thank You, Lord, for the school so that I pray for that school! Nowadays we do not even have to go, so many are coming to North America, and they are coming as a family, not just as individual students! The ministry field is right here and right now! Amazing!

Then came the wide road surrounded by gigantic farmlands filled with corn ready for harvest. The Holy Spirit brought to mind Jesus’ teaching on the harvest and it’s workers: “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”” Luke 10:2 Yes Lord, it is so true that nowadays we still do not have enough workers! Please bless us to expedite the equipping/discipling process so that more workers can be sent!

The road then turned narrow, still straight and smooth, with slightly up and down hills. Alongside the road were a mix of traditional farmhouses and contemporary mansions. Driving around in the summer sunlight was like floating on the beach! And surprisingly, the Lord brought to mind the preparedness of “ants”: “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.” Proverbs 6:6-8 You are so right, Lord! Driving this narrow path is nice right now, but in winter with hills up and down it could be a big challenge! Let’s be well equipped for winter driving before it comes. And thank You for the houses alongside the road that we may ask for help in the case of emergency. Thank You, Lord!

After the narrow rural path, there came the wide urban road again. Naturally came to mind was the parable of narrow and wide gates: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14) Thank You for the wisdom that You bestow on us, Lord! The world/culture strives for the easy kind of life “play now, pay later”, but what You taught us for our goodness’ sake is the opposite. May You bless us to strive for Your way, gain Your wisdom all for Your Glory, Lord!

“How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth.” Psalm 119:103

Thank You for enriching my short trip with Your tremendous sweetness, Lord! Praise You for all, Lord.
