Game with Minutes

Deanna Gworek / Finance Director and Worship Arts Administrative Assistant

For those of you who don’t know, the church has a hallway on the upper floor for prayer. In one of the areas there is a bookcase with resources to borrow. Sometimes I take that hallway to get to my office and for a few days in a row the same book kept catching my eye: “The Circle Maker” by Mark Batterson. I remembered that I had the devotional written by him, “Draw the Circle.” I started thinking maybe this was God’s way of telling me to go back to it since I had been sharing with a friend that I was looking for something new for my quiet time.

Sure enough, on day one I opened to an entry titled “Game with Minutes.” It referenced 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing.” I took the guidance to move from just praying for big things, to everyday things like chores and routines and even for random people I was walking past throughout the day. I have noticed the difference in my perspective on days when I do this. I’ve continued to dig deeper into the devotional and my relationship with Jesus, giving thanks to Him and finding joy daily.
