While I’m Waiting

Kaitlyn Pfennig / Next Gen Ministry Assistant

Waiting for healing.

Waiting for a job.

Waiting for a relationship.

Waiting for a baby.

Waiting for good news.

Waiting for something amazing (just like the little boy on The Incredibles).

We are in a world of wanting things immediately. The bigger and more exciting something is, the harder it seems to wait. Sometimes we are gifted with the ability to see the finish line. When we have a date set, we can count down the days like a child counting down the days until Christmas or the last day of school. This builds the excitement as the day approaches.

However, many points in life have no set date or timeline which makes waiting hard. Sometimes the waiting can even hurt. God sees you through all of it. Through the pain, the heartache, and even the tears.

It’s hard to see others around you getting what you so desperately want. But inside you know that it is God’s time not yours. His will not yours. These words can be both comforting and painful, when you have faith that God will provide but know you still must wait. Inside you know that the wait will be worth it, but you cannot always see it and fully understand it during the waiting.

“Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.” Hebrews 6:15

God has a plan even better than we can imagine but we must wait.

The song “While I’m Waiting” by John Waller, commonly known from the movie Fireproof has it beautifully described (Listen here). God does not want us to be constantly sad and miserable while we wait. God is looking for us to serve and worship Him. Despite waiting being so hard, God wants us to lean on Him through the heartache and the pain. He is the strength we need to guide us through.

I know the waiting will be worth it in the end.
