“Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.” Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭10‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

In our sensibilities, love never does anything that causes pain. That is why we struggle to truly embrace the depths of God’s love. It was God’s will to “crush” Him. It was God’s will to “cause Him to suffer.” It was God’s will to “make His life a sin offering.” Paul says this was the demonstration of God’s love for us. “God demonstrated His love for us in this, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Ponder the lengths and depths not just Jesus, but also the Father, went to show us His love. Love sacrifices all for the sake of the one loved.

Father, thank You for Your love. Help me to not only experience Your love, but to love You the same as You love me. Amen.
